Greg Walsh – FCPA FTIA | Founding Partner

Greg is the founding partner of G J Walsh & Co. He has worked as a practicing accountant since 1983 after graduating from the Queensland Institute of Technology in Brisbane. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia having been a member of this professional body for more than 30 years.

He is also a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He has worked with clients throughout Australia and New Zealand since the practice was established. His specialties include taxation, small and medium business advice, financial reporting, auditing of clubs and associations, and small business and taxation planning.

Greg has given his time to the local community for over 25 years, having sat on various school boards and committees during this time. He has coached rugby league and cricket at local and representative levels, been actively involved in various categories of motorsport from local to international levels. He has managed his son for the past 15 years through his motorsport career including V8 Supercars in Australia and A1GP and Formula Renault in Europe.

Greg is currently Chairman of Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich Inc and has served on this board since 1995, chairman since 2003, and served as an executive board member from 1997. Ipswich Brothers is one of the leading Queensland Clubs and founding Club in the confraternity of Brothers Clubs.

David joined G J Walsh & Co as a graduate accountant in 1999, fresh from completing his degree at Queensland University of Technology.

Joining a small progressive firm meant I was exposed to all aspects of the accounting trade from answering phones to filing documents. Growing with the firm, expanding my knowledge allowed me to in later years apply these principles and concepts to my clients.

David obtained CPA status in 2002, his competencies stretch to all aspects of the accounting sphere. He acknowledges that the compliance requirements that small businesses face are important, but his proactive approach to accounting is where his value lies.

Whether it is lodging a tax return or BAS for a client or compiling a set of Financial Statements, it is important that you have the technical knowledge and abilities to perform these tasks. However, my greatest asset is providing forward-thinking strategies to my clients. There is no point saying we could have or should have done that. I like to be on the front foot with my clients, providing solutions that help them achieve their goals.

In 2004 David was admitted as a partner of G J Walsh & Co. He works with clients within a range of accounting and financial disciplines, from the support needed to run the day to day affairs of a business s to more complex advice on how to best manage your taxation obligations.

For me working outside the square is the norm. Every client is different and diverse. Every client needs a solution that is specifically tailored for their circumstances.

Leonie Wilkins CPA | Senior Accountant

Leonie joined the G J Walsh & Co team in 2009 after having worked in a Brisbane CPA accounting practise for a number of years where she made the decision to work closer to her children who were in their early years of schooling. Leonie has over 15 years of experience in Public Practise in dealing with personal income tax, tax, and compliance work for small and medium-sized entities and in recent years with a larger focus on superannuation fund compliance work.

Angela Leisemann | Senior Accountant

Angela was our first employee back in 1995 and has developed her accounting career over 25 years with G J Walsh & Co exploring all areas of public practice. She is experienced in providing tailored solutions for a variety of clients including their taxation, compliance and business software needs. In 2010 she attained a Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching and worked in the education field. She re-joined the practise in 2013 with a renewed enthusiasm for the accounting profession. Her skills in educating assist in the training and development of the professional team members to ensure they achieve personal growth and provide exemplary services to our clients. Her enthusiasm for challenging engagements and problem-solving fosters relationships with staff and clients alike.

Angela Leisemann

Shellee Saunders CPA | Senior Accountant

We welcomed Shellee to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Scenic Rim region. Shellee started her career working for David Woolgar in July 1999 as an undergraduate while also completing her Bachelor of Commerce hosted by the University of Queensland (UQ), where she graduated in 2002. Shellee gained her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) certification in 2006 while working full-time as an accountant and office manager of David Woolgar & Associates.

Shellee has continued to be an integral part of the team, providing expert knowledge and experience in Accounting & Taxation services within our Boonah practise.

Nicole Gillett CA | Senior Accountant

We welcomed Nicole to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Scenic Rim region. Nicole obtained her Bachelor of Business in 1996 through Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and advanced her qualifications through post-graduate studies, becoming a Chartered Accountant in 2000. Nicole has over 25 years of experience in the accounting industry focused mainly within Public Practise equipt with advisory skills in Taxation and Business Services.

After having worked alongside David Woolgar, and her fellow staff members for 12 years prior to the incorporation, Nicole has been a valuable member within the growing G J Walsh & Co community, where she continues to assist the Boonah Practise with the development of the undergraduate and graduate staff members.

Nicole Gillett

Tim Sauer CPA | Senior Accountant

Tim joined the team at G J Walsh & Co in January 2007, since this time he has become a professionally accredited Accountant having completed his Bachelor of E-Commerce majoring in Accounting. Further professional development saw Tim complete the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) program in December 2013.

Tim currently leads the G J Walsh & Co Auditing Services Team, managing a large portion of the audit compliance work in various industries including State and Private Schools, P & F Associations, Sporting Clubs, Charities, Churches, Solicitors and Real Estates. Tim works closely with the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) to assist clients in keeping up to date with their Annual Reporting obligations, Minimum Financial Requirement (MFR) Reports and applications for Licences. Tim continues to work with small and medium clients directly, enabling his clients reach their financial goals by assisting them with their taxation, compliance and, audit obligations.

Tim strives to provide all his clients with the most up to date and accurate information, enabling him to deliver the highest level of professional service.

Simone Hauschildt CPA | Senior Accountant

Simone joined the G J Walsh & Co team in late 2008 taken on as an undergraduate. She finished her studies in July 2010 obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in accounting with the University of Queensland (UQ), later advancing her skillset in obtaining her Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) certification.

Alongside Partner, David Richardson, Simone has been a vital part of the client management of our TSI Accounting merger in April of 2019 where Simone is based predominantly in our Springfield office, assisting clients with their taxation and business services needs. Over the past 12 years at G J Walsh & Co, Simone has also developed her expert knowledge in Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) compliance services.

Simone Hauschildt

Gloria Mavugara CA | Senior Accountant

Gloria is a Chartered Accountant who joined the GJ Walsh & Co team in March 2021. She has over 10 years Accounting experience specialising in Taxation and Business Services for organisations across varied industries.

In 2007 she migrated to Australia to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce degree at Griffith University, majoring in Accounting, Banking and Finance and graduated in 2009 with a distinction, receiving a Griffith University Award of excellence.

She is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society whose membership is by invitation only and applies to the top 15% of university top-performing graduates.

In 2013 she became a Chartered Accountant upon completing the relevant Graduate Diploma with the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia & NZ. She also holds a certificate in Information Technology with a Networking major.

Rosie Stanford CPA | Accountant

Rosie joined the GJ Walsh & Co team in October 2014 on a part-time basis after successfully running her own Hotel business for 8 & 1/2 years with her husband. Before the Hotel, Rosie completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and gained experience as an Accountant in a Brisbane accounting practice for 6 years.

In July 2018, Rosie obtained her Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) qualification where she continues to share her time between the Ipswich and Boonah office locations. Rosie has experience in a range of different facets of business advisory, and individual and business compliance matters.

Maree Muller CPA | Accountant

We welcomed Maree to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Scenic Rim region. Before working in the accounting industry, Maree worked within the banking industry for 14 years at some of the top banking corporations.

Maree’s accounting career began with David Woolgar & Associates in 2012 after completing a Bachelor of Commerce. In 2017 she attained her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) certification. Maree’s knowledge in the banking and accounting industries together make a great asset to the G J Walsh & Co team.

Leonie Young CPA | Accountant

Leonie joined the G J Walsh & Co team in March 2021, coming in with over 18 years of experience in public practice. Leonie completed her Bachelor of E-Commerce majoring in Accounting, followed by completion of the Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) Program in 2011.

Leonie started her career working as an administrator and has worked her way up to Manager / Senior Accountant roles over the years in previous firms. This has allowed her to develop and gain valuable experience and knowledge to assist clients in the best possible way.

Mitchell joined the G J Walsh & Co team in November 2014 as an undergraduate accountant, where he went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) in the Winter of 2017. Mitch commenced his additional studies in the Certified Practicing Accounts (CPA) program in January 2018 and is on track to finish at the end of 2021. Mitch has gained a wealth of experience in bookkeeping, BAS/IAS preparation, and also individual and business compliance matters. Mitch is an enthusiastic team member who is always ready to help.

Riley joined our team in September of 2016, based out of our Boonah Office. Recently graduating with his Bachelor of Business & Commerce from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ), majoring in Accounting & Finance, Riley will now begin his additional studies towards his Certified Practising Accountants (CPA) certification. Riley started out working as an administrative assistant helping both reception and the professional staff in various duties throughout the office. Alicia Moffatt | Undergraduate Accountant

Alicia joined the G J Walsh & Co team in August of 2020, as an undergraduate Accountant. Before joining our Practice, Alicia worked casually as an Accounts Assistant – Data Support (Bookkeeping) at Bentleys Queensland where she gained invaluable knowledge in data entry, payroll processing, BAS/IAS preparations, and Debtors management. Alicia also contributes to her family farm, Moffatt Fresh Produce. When required, Alicia also assists her fellow teammate, Clair Prince, with phones and other administrative tasks.

Jayde Lawson | Client Services & Bookkeeping Manager

Jayde has been part of the G J Walsh & Co team since 2005 in the early days when the practice moved into the Ipswich CBD. Jayde has worked and continues to assist in various roles throughout the practice such as Accounts, Client Services, and Corporate Compliance manager. Over the past few years, Jayde’s position has evolved into a client-based bookkeeping role after her experience with internal bookkeeping matters and her involvement with her own family business saw her under-utilised skillset blossom. Jayde provides our clients with the ‘know-how’ on managing their books, from startups to existing businesses wanting to take charge. Additionally, Jayde manages a portion of Client payroll and bookkeeping services for those looking for the complete suite of Accounting services.

Suzanne Foelz | Bookkeeper

We welcomed Suzanne to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Scenic Rim region. Suzanne has gained great experience in administration from working in the Boonah, Brisbane, and Toowoomba regions. Suzanne was fortunate enough to become a stay at home mother while she raised her two children until she returned to work as the bookkeeper at David Woolgar & Associates in December of 2003. Suzanne continues to contribute to the G J Walsh & Co team as a bookkeeper, predominantly in MYOB and XERO based products. Suzanne manages a large portion of our Boonah client-based bookkeeping services including but not limited to data entry, payroll, activity statements, Superstream, and STP Finalisation.

Toni Notley | Bookkeeper

Toni joined the G J Walsh & Co team in September of 2016, based in our Ipswich Office. With over 15 years of experience in bookkeeping services, she has become a great asset to servicing our clients internally and externally.
Prior to G J Walsh & Co Toni has experienced a multifaceted working life with expertise in varying industries; She has had a large involvement in local and regional Touch Football associations, spent time as a Police officer, Graphic Design Teacher, and managing a swim school. Today, Toni assists the Partners as a Partners Assistant as well as a client-based bookkeeper liaising with the Clients directly as well as the professional staff for BAS and Accounts preparation.

Amanda Madden | Bookkeeper

Amanda joined the G J Walsh & Co team in November of 2008, taking on the role of Greg and David’s Partners Assistant. She was responsible for both practice and partner administration. Amanda has completed various studies in her current and previous positions outside of G J Walsh & Co, including Certificate IV in Business Administration, and Certificate II in Business. Amanda has spent the last 3 years on-and-off maternity leave after the birth of her 2 sons and will return to work in April/May 2021. Amanda has recently applied her bookkeeping skills into a Client-based bookkeeping role, assisting clients and the professionals for BAS and Accounts preparation.

Abby has been part of the G J Walsh & Co team since February of 2010, where she began on reception within our Ipswich office. She works predominantly as our Client Services Manager and is responsible for customer liaison, administration, and workflow management within the practice. Abby completed her Bachelor Degree in Contemporary Marketing & Management in November 2017 which has allowed her to apply her skillset in management of the practice expansion projects. Abby also assists the practice with corporate stationery updates, annual advertisement design, and maintaining social media accounts.

Sharna Pender | Accounts & Administration

Sharna has been part of the G J Walsh & Co community since 2008, working predominantly in the Accounts and Administration services. In 2013, she pursued her dream of traveling overseas where she spent a year and a half in London working and exploring Europe. Sharna returned to G J Walsh & Co in September 2014 where she was responsible for reception and administration before she returned to her position as Accounts & Administration services. Sharna handles all client billing and debt management for our Ipswich and Springfield office locations, also assisting in corporate compliance maintenance.

Clair Prince | Reception & Administration

We welcomed Clair to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 as part of our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Scenic Rim region. Clair has extensive experience working in administration within the accounting industry in Brisbane and Boonah since 1998. Her contribution to our Boonah office includes but is not limited to managing reception, staff job allocation, client, and corporate compliance. Clair’s wide range of knowledge within the administration services sees her provide full-time support to the professionals and undergraduate members of her team.

Kaitlyn joined G J Walsh & Co in March 2018, who works predominantly in the Reception & Client Services area of our Ipswich Office. Over her 3 years at G J Walsh & Co Kaitie has developed her skills in client services where she co-manages the client lodgement programs, assists the professionals with the collation of documentation, and recently starting her pathway into corporate compliance. You may see Kaitie around each of our office locations where she is trained to relieve and assist her co-workers within the reception and administration areas of the practise.

Sam brings an intelligent and humble presence into the G J Walsh & Co community particularly in areas of client services and administration support.

Angela Webster | Reception & Administration

Angela joined the G J Walsh & Co team in late August 2020, after her move from Victoria earlier in the year. Angela comes from experience in Human Resources (HR) administration services where she had spent 5 years at the Toyota Motor Corporation Australia (TMCA) in Port Melbourne, Victoria.

Angela’s skill set and exceptional customer service have been invaluable to the G J Walsh & Co Springfield team, as well as remotely alongside her co-workers within the Ipswich office.

Kath Walsh | Administration Assistant

Kath has been apart of the G J Walsh & Co team since its establishment, assisting her husband Greg in the operation of both front and back of the office. In May of 2015, Kath joined the administration team on a full-time basis where she assisted the partners and staff working predominantly from reception at our Springfield Office. In August 2020, Kath returned to a casual basis assisting the Practice wherever necessary.
