Established in 1994 and operating from a beautifully renovated Queenslander, G J Walsh & Co grew quickly from its humble beginnings. By embracing a strong commitment to its clients, we were blessed with rapid growth due to a passion for quality, grounded in astute business values.

Greg Walsh founded the practice on the back of 18 years in the commercial sector. David Richardson joined the practice in 1999 as a willing graduate. Our business, professional and individual clients benefit from the most insightful, expert and informed financial advice.

Leonie Wilkins – CPA | Senior Accountant

Leonie joined the G J Walsh & Co team in 2009 after having worked in a Brisbane CPA accounting practise for a number of years where she made the decision to work closer to her children whom were in their early years of schooling. Leonie has over 10 years of experience in Public Practise in dealing with personal income tax, tax and compliance work for small and medium sized entities and in recent years with a larger focus on superannuation fund compliance work.

When Leonie is not at G J Walsh & Co she spends her time running after her 2 children doing the school run, helping out at the school or driving them to their various sporting commitments, and still manages to squeeze in time for a game of netball on a Saturday afternoon.

Nicole Gillett – CA | Senior Accountant

We welcomed Nicole to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Nicole obtained her Bachelor of Business in 1996 through Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and advanced her qualifications through post graduate studies, becoming a Chartered Accountant in 2000. Nicole has over 19 years of experience in the accounting industry focused mainly in Public Practice in the Taxation and Business Services areas.

Working alongside David Woolgar and fellow staff members for the past 12 years, her experience within the industry is valuable to the growing G J Walsh & Co community.

Outside of G J Walsh & Co Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.

Rosie Stanford – Accountant

Rosie joined GJ Walsh & Co in October 2014 on a part time basis after successfully running her own Hotel business for the past 8 1/2 years. Prior to this Rosie completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and worked as an Accountant in a Brisbane accounting practice for 6 years. Rosie is currently working towards her CPA certification.

When not at work Rosie enjoys spending time with her husband Tim and their three young children as well as playing netball and doing crossfit training.

We welcomed Sara to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Sara currently works remotely with G J Walsh & Co whilst juggling her busy life as a full-time mother of four.

Toni Notley – Bookkepper

Toni joined our team in September of 2016 based in our Ipswich Office. With over 15 years experience in bookkeeping services she has become a great asset to servicing our clients internally and externally.

Prior to G J Walsh & Co Toni has experienced a multifaceted working life with expertise in varying industries; she began her working career with National Australia Bank – International Operations and then with the Police Force until she had her children. While raising her 4 children Toni also assisted in developing and managing a New Swim School partnership in Jindalee. She also completed a Diploma in Graphic Design and then worked as a Freelance Graphic Designer as well as teaching Graphic Design at Springfield TAFE.

 

In her spare time, she plays Touch Football and coaches Touch Football, for both Juniors and Seniors. She is responsible for organising the annual Ipswich Super 8’s touch competition, which is sponsored by GJ Walsh & Co amongst other Ipswich businesses. The remaining spare time is happily taken up enjoying her daughters sporting and extra curricular activities.

Abby Walsh – Client Services & Marketing Manager

Abby is our Client Services & Marketing Manager and has been working for G J Walsh & Co since February 2010. She is responsible for all customer liaison, administration and team and workflow management within the practice. Any issues in relation to administration and employee workloads will be dealt with by Abby. She is also responsible for providing all Corporate Compliance Services and Self Managed Superannuation Fund administration services. Amongst her work with G J Walsh & Co, Abby is a qualified Graphic Designer where she assists in corporate stationery updates, annual advertisement design and managing social media accounts for G J Walsh & Co and related entities.

Outside the scope of G J Walsh & Co Abby is working towards her Bachelor of Business via Open Universities online study part-time and established a new local unisex clothing label Abby Road. Aside from study and business activities Abby enjoys various outdoor activities such as competing in the local Ipswich Touch Football and Ipswich OzTag Mixed Competitions and surfing.

Clair Prince – Reception & Administration

We welcomed Clair to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 as part of our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Clair has extensive experience working in administration within the accounting industry in Brisbane and Boonah since 1998. Her contribution to our office includes but is not limited to managing reception, staff job allocation, client and corporate compliance.

Clair enjoys family time on the weekends supporting her children in their representative sporting teams.

Greg Walsh – FCPA FTIA | Partner

Greg is the founding partner of G J Walsh & Co. He has worked as a practising accountant since 1983 after graduating from the Queensland Institute of Technology in Brisbane. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia having been a member of this professional body for more than 30 years.

He is also a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia. He has worked with clients throughout Australia and New Zealand since the practise was established. His specialties include taxation, small and medium business advice, financial reporting, auditing of clubs and associations and small business and taxation planning.

Greg has given his time to the local community for over 25 years, having sat on various school boards and committees during this time. He has coached rugby league and cricket at local and representative levels, been actively involved in various categories of motorsport from local to international levels. He has managed his son for the past 15 years through his motorsport career including V8 Supercars in Australia and A1GP and Formula Renault in Europe.

Greg is currently Chairman of Brothers Leagues Club Ipswich Inc and has served on this board since 1995, chairman since 2003 and served as an executive board member from 1997. Ipswich Brothers is one of the leading Queensland Clubs and founding Club in the confraternity of Brothers Clubs.

Outside of the practise he likes to keep fit being involved in Crossfit, cycling, running and water skiing. He enjoys camping and fishing when time permits.

Angela Leismann – CPA | Senior Accountant

Angela joined was our first employee back in 1995 and developed her accounting career over 15 years with G J Walsh & Co exploring all areas of public practise. In 2010 she attained a Graduate Diploma in Learning and Teaching and worked in the education field. She re-joined the practise in 2013 with a renewed enthusiasm for the accounting profession. Her new skills in educating are now applied to the training and development of the professional team members to ensure their knowledge and skills are refined to provide optimum services to our clients. Her attention to detail and approachable attitude is intended to foster current and future relationships with staff and clients alike. Her position at G J Walsh & Co enables her to create a balance with career and family life. Her school-aged children are involved in local netball and basketball clubs which are great social outlets for community involvement.

Tim Sauer – CPA | Accountant

Tim has been a member of the G J Walsh & Co community since January 2007, during this time he has developed and become a professionally accredited accountant having completed his Bachelor of Electronic Commerce majoring in Accounting followed by completion of the Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) program.

In May 2013 Tim became a first time father to a beautiful baby girl named Charlotte. Tim enjoys the team environment which G J Walsh & Co offers, and this carries through into his spare time where he enjoys playing rugby league and cricket.

Tim looks forward to helping his clients in all their taxation, compliance and audit obligations into the future.

Erin Wilkins – CPA | Accountant

Erin first joined the G J Walsh & Co team in late 2008 as a graduate from The University of Queensland, obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce – majoring in Accounting and Finance. Whilst working with G J Walsh & Co she was able to grow and develop her understanding of compliance requirements within the Tax sector. She then commenced her postgraduate studies and obtained her CPA qualification in late 2011. An opportunity arose to work in the Resources sector as a Management Accountant. For four years she was based in Blackwater where she gained an invaluable insight into the day-to-day Management of large businesses and process chain analysis. Eventually becoming a Business Analyst within the sector.

Family life started in 2014 and Erin and her husband, Clint, moved back toward family and friends – buying a small hobby farm in Maroon. In 2015 Erin was then looking for part-time work close to home. G J Walsh & Co were open to her return. Erin will be based out at the Boonah office long-term and looks forward to growing a client base through a continuing relationship with G J Walsh & Co.

Suzanne Foelz – Bookkeeper

We welcomed Suzanne to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Suzanne has gained great experience in administration from working in the Boonah, Brisbane and Toowoomba regions. Suzanne was fortunate enough to become a stay at home mother while she raised her two children until she returned to work as the bookkeeper at David Woolgar & Associates in December of 2003. Suzanne continues to contribute to the G J Walsh & Co team as bookkeeper, predominantly in Banklink Services.

Outside of G J Walsh & Co Suzanne enjoys spending her spare time with family and friends.

Mitchell Cobbin – Undergraduate

Mitchell is currently studying for a Degree in Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Accounting & Sustainable Business at the University of Southern Queensland. Mitchell is an avid sports fan, while enjoys time with his friends outside of hours. Mitchell is excited to be working here with the team, where he feels there is a wealth of experience available and is learning every day. He is also looking forward to completing his studies and beginning his Certified Practicing Accountants program.

Jayde Lawson – Client Services

Jayde is our client services and administration support and has been working for G J Walsh & Co since 2005. Jayde has returned from Maternity leave in January of 2015 after the birth of her beautiful little girl Harper, in December 2013.

Outside of G J Walsh & Co Jayde is full-time mum and owner of BLVD Restaurant in Springfield Lakes with her husband.

Sharna Dilger – Administration

Sharna previously worked for G J Walsh & Co from 2008 up until February of 2013 as an Administration Assistant, however her pursuit for overseas travel saw her take a break from the office and spent a year and a half in London working and travelling across the globe. In September of 2014 Sharna returned to the G J Walsh & Co team as receptionist of the Ipswich office including but not limited to assisting our partners and administration team with general administration matters. She hopes to travel again in the near future when time permits.

David Richardson – CPA | Partner

David joined G J Walsh & Co as a graduate accountant in 1999, fresh from completing his degree at Queensland University of Technology.

Joining a small progressive firm meant I was exposed to all aspects of the accounting trade from answering phones, to filing documents. Growing with the firm, expanding my knowledge allowed me to in later years apply these principles and concepts to my clients

David obtained CPA status in 2002, his competencies stretch to all aspects of the accounting sphere. He acknowledges that the compliance requirements that small business face are important, but his proactive approach to accounting is where his value lies.

Whether it is lodging a tax return or BAS for a client or compiling a set of Financial Statements, it is important that you have the technical knowledge and abilities to perform these tasks. However, my greatest asset is providing forward thinking strategies to my clients. There is no point saying we could have or should have done that. I like to be on the front foot with my clients, providing solutions that help them achieve their goals.

In 2004 David was admitted as a partner of G J Walsh & Co. He works with clients within a range of accounting and financial disciplines, from the support needed to run the day to day affairs of a business s to more complex advice on how to best manage your taxation obligations.

For me working outside the square is the norm. Every client is different and diverse. Every client needs a solution that is specifically tailored for their circumstances.

Away from the office, David enjoys nothing more than spending time with his family and watching his young flock grow. As a self-confessed Cricket Tragic, he can be found in the summer months on a local cricket ground battling it out with a group of mates playing for his beloved Brothers Cricket Club.

Shellee Saunders – CPA | Senior Accountant

We welcomed Shellee to the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Shellee started working for David Woolgar in July 1999 as an undergraduate completing her Bachelor of Commerce hosted by the University of Queensland (UQ) where she graduated in 2002. Shellee gained her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) certification in 2006 while working full-time as an accountant and office manager of the practise.

Since the birth of her first child in 2006, Shellee has worked part time whilst raising her 3 children with her husband. Shellee’s knowledge and experience with the practise and accounting and taxation services is beneficial to the G J Walsh & Co community as we merge as one.

Shellee takes full advantage of her time outside of business hours where she enjoys various activities such as playing sport, going to the gym, playing the violin, camping, shopping and spending time with her friends and family.

Maree Muller – Accountant

We welcomed Maree into the G J Walsh & Co team in January of 2016 after our incorporation with David Woolgar & Associates in the Boonah region. Prior to working in the accounting industry, Maree worked within the banking industry for 14 years at some of the top banking corporations. During her time in the banking industry, Maree worked in various roles such as customer service, supervisor and loans officer. Maree took time off work to become a full-time mother whilst additionally completing her Bachelor of Commerce externally and providing bookkeeping services.

Maree’s accounting career began with David Woolgar & Associates in June of 2012, where she continues to grow her knowledge in the industry while working towards her Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) certification. Maree’s knowledge in the banking and accounting industries together make a great asset to the growing G J Walsh & Co team.

Amanda joined our office during 2008 as Greg and Davids PA (Partners Assistant). She is responsible for practice and partner administration, marketing and finance matters within the practice. Amanda has completed various studies in her current and previous positions outside of G J Walsh & Co such as Certificate II in Business, Certificate III in Retail Supervision and Certificate IV in Business Administration.

Outside of G J Walsh & Co Amanda enjoys playing touch football and Oz tag. She also enjoys travelling and has visited Thailand and America.
